Why Choose This Trip?

The world-class resort of Snowmass has been among the list of favorite destinations requested by club members year after year especially after the trip two years ago was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Your trip will be coordinated by TC Steve Ying who has a long history of providing top notch fun.  This trip promises to continue the legacy.

To start with, the first-class skiing deserves all the hype with its diverse terrain which offers something for everyone.  If the extensive uncrowded, blue intermediate terrain of Snowmass isn’t inviting enough, your lift tickets include access to three other nearby mountain resorts by just hopping on one of the quick, free buses.  Celebrity-favorite Aspen and Aspen Highlands will challenge seasoned experts, while the slopes of Buttermilk will satisfy tamer skiers and riders.

Just learning to ski or board?  Snowmass has some of the world’s best ski/board instruction.  Plus, we ski out from our lodging onto an easy green close to the base.

Furthermore, this trip is not just about the skiing and boarding.  Skiers and non-skiers can revel in all the area has to offer in other ways, including the facilities at the Top of the Village and Stonebridge such as the heated pools, hot tubs, close by spas and snow sports such as cross-country and snow shoeing.  There is a vibrant slope side village bustling with shops and restaurants.

Aspen offers world-class shopping including the bargain thrift shops of the rich and famous.  Of course, everyone needs to experience the legendary après-ski and nightlife of Aspen. This trip is sponsored by the Texas Ski Council with an overload of activities included.  Don’t miss this “Must Do” trip of the year and be sure to check the website periodically for updates.

Accommodations:
Sign up early and pick your lodging from two different options:

Option 1 – We have 30 pillows in deluxe two and three-bedroom condominiums at Top of the Village which is currently ranked #1 out of 15 in Snowmass Village by Trip Advisor.  We have stayed here before and know they deserve that ranking.  These true ski-in, ski-out condos feature washers/dryers in every unit, a full kitchen, a full bath for every two occupants, a heated pool and several hot tubs for après ski fun.  Other amenities include high speed wireless internet, fireplaces, sauna and fitness room, elevators, private shuttles within Snowmass Village, on-site parking, and overnight ski tuning.

Option 2 – We have 10 pillows at the “Destination by Hyatt” ski-in, ski-out Stonebridge Inn which is close to the action lower on the slope than TOV near the Base Village.  Here we will utilize the Deluxe Queen/Queen rooms which offer a mini-fridge, overnight ski storage, ceiling fan, humidifier, 42-inch flat-screen cable TV, wireless internet, some housekeeping and an onsite restaurant & bar serving breakfast, happy hour and dinner. This option is perfect for those who would rather eat in a restaurant than deal with cooking meals. Note the trip price does not include breakfast, but you can purchase breakfast as desired. This lovely hotel has an outdoor heated pool/ hot tubs, sauna, steam room and fitness center.

MORE THAN JUST GREAT SKIING

Snowmass boasts a Nordic Trail System with 60 miles of FREE show shoe and cross-country skiing.  There is also an Alpine Coaster at the top of Elk Camp that you shouldn’t miss, as well as snow-mobiling and dogsledding.

The highly rated Spa at Viceroy Snowmass  is a short 5-minute ride or 15-minute walk and is just one of several spas available to pamper you.

Since our last visit four years ago (yes, it’s been that long), Snowmass has completed a $600 million dollar expansion of their Base Village which is the largest mountain resort construction project in North America.  It features a FREE ice-skating rink, patio with outdoor fire pits and Colorado’s tallest indoor climbing wall.

There are also some new quirky upgrades such as the army of Groomba snowcats which are solar powered grooming robots developed by the Roomba vacuum cleaner company that will swarm all the mountains and turn them into immaculate corduroy every evening.  You can even book your own personal Groomba to groom in front of you so that you never have ski in anyone else’s tracks.  Also the notoriously slow Gent’s Ridge lift in Aspen has been fitted out with Lazy Boy Recliners and VHS players (BYO VHS). And finally after 21 years, Aspen Mountain will be designated two-plank sliding only.  That’s right, no more snow boarders.
This is a TSC trip, so there will be lots of other activities including a Welcome Party and Final Dinner/Dance Party. Add to that an SCSC club party, and the usual one-night trip to Aspen for nightlife and your evens are already packed with fun!
