TRIP DESCRIPTION
I had a dream that we came back from Park City and forgot to meet up for lunch or happy hour.
A) That is a nightmare!
B) Like that is going to happen!!!!
Park City Mountain Resort has way too much going on to be bored on or off the mountain.
Additionally, we also have Texas Ski Council (TSC) parties on the calendar, too!!
This resort is the largest ski resort in North America which means tons of runs and lots of lifts.
Park City, which now includes the Canyons, is comprised of 7300 acres. It has 348 Trails, 41 Lifts, 13 Bowls, 8 Terrain Parks. Over 115 of the trails are groomed nightly, which is no mean feat. Park City has been operated by Vail Resorts since 2013, and this has led to many improvements. Bringing in the Canyons has made the resort a blue run paradise. There are also plenty of greens and steeps to keep everyone else happy. The mountain has lots of dining options, including the Look Out Cabin at the Canyons. Elegant, full-service dining with amazing views of the Wasatch Mountains.
Getting There
While we wait to see what Southwest offers when they open up booking, we currently have reservations with United Airlines non-stop to Salt Lake City. UA6352 JAN 8th IAH to SLC 1205PM 230PM UA5699 JAN 15th SLC to IAH 930AM 132PM Faster to the fun!!
Our private shuttle will whisk us out to Park City. It is only a 35-minute drive, but we will throw in a stop for groceries and beverages.
Accommodations
Location, Location, Location!
There are few lodging properties in Park City that are ski in/ski out but this time SCSCers will be staying in such a place. We are staying seven nights at the Snow Flower Condos via Park City Lodging. This complex is truly ski in and ski out and reviews consistently mention how convenient these condos are to the mountain and everywhere else.
Three lifts are right there. Three Kings and First Time serve green runs, and Eagle will take you up to blues and blacks. From there it is easy to catch the Quicksilver Gondola over to the Canyons (8 minutes).
We have good size 2 bedroom - 2 bath condos with full kitchens, gas fireplace and dining area.
The property also boasts two heated pools, jetted spa, laundry facilities, elevators and ski locker rooms to store equipment.
And another point of the great location is that when you are not skiing and want to go into town or one of the TSC parties, Park City’s free shuttle bus has a stop about 30 yards from the front of the condominiums. What convenience!

Lift Tickets will be available for purchase after final payment has been made.

Activities
Texas Ski Council trips are lively!
A welcome reception will be held on Sunday, January 9th and a Farewell Party on Thursday, January 13th.
One of the TSC activities is racing. Don’t let that intimidate you if you are not a racer/great skier/ competitive, etc. It is an intermediate run with flags that you slowly and carefully ski around until you get to the bottom. Just by doing so you will probably earn points for SCSC team. Points are cool. And you won’t forget the experience.
We will have lots of opportunities to meet for lunch and happy hours. I will also arrange other options to bring the group together including the famous Friday Night Food and Wine Left Over Party.
Other Adventurous Options include Sleigh Rides through Snowed Inn Sleigh Ride Co, Bobsledding at Utah Olympic Park and Snowmobile and Dog Sled outings.
The Park City Museum is a great place to check out the history of Park City and its transition from mining to skiing. $15 for each adult. Open daily until 5 pm.
The town is chock full of brew pubs, fine dining and my other favorite, The High West Distillery. Fabulous cocktails, flights, and food. And you can purchase bottles of their hard-to-find premium whiskeys to go.
Good websites:
visitparkcity.com - great website for things to do, restaurant & bar information.
parkcitymountain.com has a good trail map.
